A Human Planet in the Making

“Invisible threads are the strongest ties.”

Nietzsche

As I reflect on the beginning of this new chapter, by the acquisition of the KOIS Advisory business we co-founded Human Planet together with my kindred spirit Christian Meyer zu Natrup and our dynamic teams, I feel the weight of a world in transition and the clarity of a mission long in the making.

The global economic outlook, as detailed in the latest World Bank report, paints a sobering picture: EMDEs (Emerging Markets and Developing Economies) face unprecedented headwinds by declining productivity, debt overhangs, geopolitical fragmentation, and worsening climate volatility. Yet within this challenge lies a profound opportunity: to reimagine the way capital, compassion, and collaboration intersect.

For over a decade, I have dedicated myself to bridging that very intersection. From Bamboo Capital to Palladium and KOIS to now Human Planet, I have learned one truth: impact is more than an ideal and actually a method of survival. It is about investing not only in people, but in the systems that allow their dignity and resilience to flourish.

Christian and I share more than professional alignment as we share a philosophy: that sustainable transformation happens when finance dares to serve humanity first. Human Planet is born from this vision. It is our collective tech-driven platform to scale innovative finance, catalyse systems change, and prove that regenerative development is not only possible, but the right thing to do.

In many ways, this moment feels for me like a culmination of a lifelong arc: From jumping out of Chinooks to face my fears, to jumping into struggling companies during financial crises, to founding resilienture to protect coastal communities from climate disaster, to now forging Human Planet with Christian and our dynamic teams where every leap was about confronting uncertainty with purpose.

  • We know what doesn’t work: hard power, extractive finance, trickle-down charity.
  • We know what can work: innovative finance that de-risks innovation, community-led solutions that scale with dignity, and radical collaborations across sectors and borders.

The acquisition of the KOIS Advisory business is not a financial transaction, but rather our transformational step. It is the integration of legacy and urgency. It is our next Judo move taking advantage of the world’s inertia where agility, balance, and discipline are paired with courage.

As global growth stagnates and climate risks rise, the need for catalytic, purpose-driven capital has never been greater. Human Planet will serve as a beacon for those ready to rewire the rules of investment, and to lead with both logic and love.

Because ultimately, my analogy here is the creation of a continuum of care from giving someone a fish (safe lives), to teaching how to fish (foster self-reliance) to finally invest in its fishing business (economic empowerment) so its entire community can thrive.

Impact lives. Share profits. Or as my friend Christian states: Do Good. Better!
