From Legacy to Leverage in Impact

Over more than a decade, we have been fortunate to work with governments, philanthropies, investors, and frontline changemakers pioneering innovative finance structures that brought blended capital to underserved sectors. But since early 2025, the world and the world of development and impact finance is changing fast. A convergence of pressures was shaking the foundations of our sector:

  • Traditional ODA budgets are being wiped out, strained by geopolitical fragmentation and fiscal tightening.

  • Meanwhile, private capital, while abundant, remained largely disconnected from the urgency of social and climate impact.

  • And at the same time, AI emerged not just as a tool, but as a paradigm shift, capable of inverting the traditional “consulting pyramid” entirely.

The model that had served us, and many others, well is now being fundamentally disrupted. Rather than attempt to patch a legacy model, with Christian Meyer zu Natrup, and Cedric Joutet, we made a bold, yet deeply considered move: we acquired the Avisory Business of KOIS and founded Human Planet.

Let me be clear: this wasn’t a re-action. It was a deliberate re-imagination.

We saw in AI and systems thinking a way to design advisory services fit for this new decade being faster, more affordable, and aligned with real-world outcomes. Human Planet was born not out of critique, but out of conviction: that the sector needed a new operating system.

  • Our teams are small and senior-led.

  • We deploy over 10 proprietary AI agents handling everything from opportunity scanning and financial modeling to impact KPI alignment and investor matchmaking.

  • And we measure value in outcomes delivered, not hours billed.

The result: a 60% faster delivery cycle, 3× higher funder conversion, and a 40% lower cost-to-serve. This is not the end of advisory. It is a new beginning by an evolution into AI-enabled capital mobilisation platforms. The macro picture is stark. The SDG financing gap has grown to over $4 trillion per year. ODA is decreasing. Climate volatility is rising. And yet, over $112 trillion sits in institutional portfolios awaiting reliable pathways to impact.

This is where Human Planet steps in by making those pathways viable, verifiable, and scalable. We don’t view blended finance as a niche. We see it as the backbone of a new development paradigm and AI as the bridge that makes it executable at scale. We are proud to continue the spirit of collaboration that defined KOIS (Advisory) over 15 years. In fact, our partnership with MzN International, and the development of the Human Planet Accelerator, extends our model even further by training NGOs to become investment-ready and use AI tools to enhance their performance and impact.

We are building a system where capital meets dignity. Where scale meets trust. Where outcomes meet speed. This transition seemed risky. But every leap I have taken, from impact investing to crisis recovery to founding Human Planet, has been rooted in one belief:

Purpose and performance are not at odds. They are actually inter-dependent and inter-stimulant.
